U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps

Ages 13-17

THE NSCC IS THE SENIOR PROGRAM OF THE US NAVAL SEA CADET CORPS. IT WAS DEVELOPED FOR OLDER CADETS, AGES 13 THROUGH 17. THE MISSION OF THE NSCC IS TO EXPOSE CADETS TO THE FULL RIGORS OF A MILITARY TRAINING PROGRAM. NSCC PREPARES ITS CADETS FOR WHATEVER PATH THEY MAY TAKE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL.

The Benefits of Becoming A Cadet

The program provides quantifiable benefits to its cadets. Cadets who enlist in the armed services are often eligible for military advanced pay grade programs (up to two grades in some services). This means that a cadet who enlists in the Navy may be eligible for a higher rank and pay than his or her non-cadet counterpart.

Being a cadet can also help individuals become more competitive for certain programs. More than 10 percent of the midshipmen in the most recent entering class at the U.S. Naval Academy were former cadets, a figure consistent over the past decade.

The program provides cadets with not only the motivation and encouragement to pursue their goals, but also concrete assistance in achieving them. Annually, 17 different scholarship funds are awarded to exceptional cadets who wish to pursue a college education.

Uniform and Insignia of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet and Navy League Cadet Corps

The wearing of U.S. Navy uniforms (modified with USNSCC patches) and hands-on, exciting training aboard U.S. Navy/Coast Guard ships and shore stations make us unique among all other youth programs.

Surplus U.S. Navy uniforms are made available to the Naval Sea Cadet Corps. These uniforms, in turn, are made available to cadets at a minimal cost for handling and shipping. Uniform needs that cannot be met through this source may be purchased at Navy Exchange Uniform Shops.

The Cost To Join

The annual fee for membership renewals is $200.  Much of this fee is submitted to the USNSCC  national headquarters.  The remainder helps to cover our unit's uniform, training and operations, technical support, administrative expenses.
